VLITT was founded in 2024 by Dr. Faouzi Kossentini, an internationally recognized expert in standards-based video processing and compression. VLITT is already working with video industry leaders to architect, design, implement, and optimize software-based video compression solutions.

Dr. Faouzi Kossentini is the President and Chief Executive Officer of VLITT Inc., which provides services and solutions for energy efficient video processing and compression. Until September 2024, Dr. Kossentini had been Director of Architecture and Engineering at Intel Corporation, which acquired in August 2017 eBrisk Video, Faouzi’s second startup company that he founded in 2009. Until the end of 2008, Dr. Kossentini had been Director of Technology for Cisco’s Service Provider Video Technology Group, leading the architecture and development of Cisco’s video encoder products. Cisco acquired in January 2006 UB Video, Faouzi’s first startup company that

he founded in 2000. From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Kossentini had conducted research in the fields of signal processing, communications, and multimedia, while working initially as an Assistant Professor and later an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC). While at UBC, Dr. Kossentini had also served as a technology consultant for several North American firms, including Image Power, where he held the position of Chief Technology Officer between 1998 and 2000. From 1994 to 1995, Dr. Kossentini was a Research Scientist at Nichols Research Corporation, which develops various technical products and solutions for NASA and the US Department of Defense.

Dr. Kossentini has co-authored nearly 300 journal papers, conference papers, book chapters, patents, standards contributions, and popular technical white papers. He has extensive experience in international standardization of JBIG, JPEG, H.263, H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, and AOM AV1/AV2. Dr. Kossentini is a senior IEEE member and has served as Vice General Chair and Technical Chair for international IEEE conferences. At the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Dr. Kossentini earned the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in 1989, 1990, and 1994 (respectively), all in Electrical Engineering.
